About me

Welcome to the Nook! My name is Matthew Mikolas. I was born and raised in Nanaimo, B.C. and found my passion in antiques and thrifting.

I have always been a collector and have quite the collection of my own interesting objects, but have always sought to have a store where I could share that passion with others. For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with history, and finding things that preserve history in such a way that leave you nostalgic or inquiring about the craftsmanship of them. It’s always captivating hearing the stories behind some of the items I find; the lives they’ve lived.

I strive to keep Deni’s legacy alive by continuing to give back to my community. I currently live in Harewood, with my son who goes to school here, and love this community we have. I grew up in Harewood down the street from Deni’s and have fond memories of visiting with my dad.

I look forward to meeting you all and being a larger part of the community I love so much.
